Grateful for everything!

Thankyou God for everything

825_Gratitude

Today's topic is gratitude.

What Pleases God By Paulo Coelho

On the Torah's day of joy, Ball-Shem's pupils celebrated, drinking the master's wine. The rabbi's wife complained:

"If they drink all the wine, there won't be any for the ceremony," she said.

"Put an end to the party," replied the rabbi.

The woman went to the room where the pupils were drinking. But as soon as she opened the door, she changed her mind and went back to her husband.

"Why didn't you do anything?" asked Baal-Shem.

"Because they danced, sang and were so full of joy for life,", replied his wife. "I hadn't the courage."

"You have understood: this is how God receives the gratitude of his people - seeing they are content. Go there and serve my disciples more wine," concluded the rabbi.

Let us draw a basic pencil drawing.

Draw for the love of drawing you don't need a reason.

Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.

Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad.

I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster, and leaves less room for lies.

Jade heart

Spot the jade in the crown...

821_Jade

Today's topic is jade.
More here.

Jade is an important part of Chinese culture, and Chinese people are known to have ancient stories and meanings.
Jade is believed to be closely related to the human body, and the jade qi energy and the body qi energy flow between each other. Asian people often give a gift of a jade piece they wear all the time, because they believe that the jade has become part of them and by giving it to a family member or close friend, they are giving a part of themselves.
Jade qi helps to balance the body, and the body qi flows into the jade. If you are healthy and happy, your jade that you wear every day will become more beautiful as you wear it. If you see your jade looking dull or flat, you might want to take extra care of your health, because perhaps you are getting ill. Jade is believed to protect the person who wears it.
It is considered very lucky to receive a gift of jade. And it's also very lucky to give a gift of jade. Jade is a popular gift to give and receive around the New Year, with both the giver and receiver having good luck for the year, and longer.

Fun facts or should I say OMG! facts about Flamingos

The word "flamingo" comes from the Spanish and Latin word "flamenco" which means fire, and refers to the bright color of the birds' feathers.

When flying in a
flock, the top speed of a flamingo can be as high as 35 miles per hour.

Flamingos hold their bills upside down while feeding, often for several hours a day, so they can filter out their food while skimming the water.

Flamingos are monogamous birds that lay only a single egg each year. If that egg is lost or damaged, they do not typically lay a replacement.

Parent flamingos feed their chicks exclusively crop milk for 5-12 days after hatching. This high fat, high protein substance is not like mammalian milk, but is excellent nutrition for growing chicks.

The pink, orange or red color of a flamingo's feathers is caused by carotenoid pigments in their food, and a flamingo's diet includes shrimp, plankton, algae and crustaceans.

The backward bending "knee" of a flamingo's leg is actually the bird's ankle. The actual knee is very close to the body and is not visible through the bird's plumage.

A flock of flamingos is called a stand or a flamboyance

The sad part :
The most prominent threats to flamingos include predators, habitat loss and poaching for decorative feathers as well as humans hunting flamingos to gather eggs as food or to harvest their tongues as meat.

Today's topic is Iris.

More here.

The iris's history is rich, dating back to Ancient Greek times when the Greek Goddess Iris, the messenger of the gods and the personification of the rainbow, acted as the link between heaven and earth. Purple irises were planted over the graves of women to summon the Goddess to guide the dead in their journey. Ancient Egyptian kings marveled in the iris's exotic nature, and drawings have been found of the flower in a number of Egyptian palaces. During the Middle Ages, the meaning of irises became linked to the French monarchy, and the Fleur-de-lis eventually became the recognized national symbol of France. From their earliest years, irises were used to make perfume and as a medicinal remedy. Today, they are primarily seen in gardens, in bouquets, and in the wild all over the world.

The Constitution was passed by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26 November 1949 but was adopted on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition toward becoming an independent republic. 26 January was selected for this purpose because it was this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.

Story!

A story, if you may call it so...

The horizon turned crimson, her head was resting on his shoulder, she snuggled closer as the evening sea breeze touched her.
He sighed & said “ I wish time froze now & we could be here like this forever”.
Her eyes were still closed, she smiled & said “ Hmmm… But I will have to leave in some time”
“Why? What is the hurry?”
“Sigh! My husband is coming home for dinner, so I have to go home & cook for him” She kissed him & walked away.

He sat there feeling her warmth on his shoulder & staring at the sunset!

Asters are also known as the "herb of Venus." Named for the stars because of the shape of its blossoms, the aster symbolizes elegance and refinement.  It is also considered a love charm and was thought to have mystical powers that could ward of evil serpents.   It is said they came to be when the Greek goddess Asterea cried from the lack of stars on earth.  Where her tears fell, asters grew.

Snowdrop

Snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis) are one of the first bulbs to flower and signal the start of spring. The flower is a symbol of hope.

Legend:
According to legend, the snowdrop became the symbol of hope when Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden. When Eve was about to give up hope that the cold winters would never end, an angel appeared. She transformed some of the snowflakes into snowdrop flowers, proving that the winters do eventually give way to the spring.

Interesting:
“Everyone looks for the first snowdrop as proof that our part of the earth is once more turning towards the sun, but folklore maintains that we should be wary of bringing them into the house before St Valentine’s Day, as any unmarried females could well remain spinsters!”
-Carole Carlton, Mrs Darley's Pagan Whispers: A Celebration of Pagan Festivals, Sacred Days, Spirituality and Traditions of the Year
