Actually the top yellow is not golden but dull yellow. It looks brighter here as this picture is a bad quality one. Actually, some old master has done this painting in oil and i was inspired to try in watercolor medium. I have done 2 layers of color on each strip. Instead of mixing color on the palette, i have painted the second color over, once the first color has nearly dried.

Love the gold effect! I think it is because the white of the paper is contributing for the brightness render the dull yellow color a golden hue
