What better way to represent Paris than by its famous food and its iconic Croissant? Crisp, buttery and flaky. Served with a little pot of jam. I didn't even need a reference for this one. The happy memories of a holiday were enough :-)
“I've seen you, beauty, and you belong to me now, whoever you are waiting for and if I never see you again, I thought. You belong to me and all Paris belongs to me and I belong to this notebook and this pencil.”
~ Ernest Hemingway
“Paris is a place in which we can forget ourselves, reinvent, expunge the dead weight of our past.”
~ Michael Simkins
“As an artist, a man has no home in Europe save in Paris.”
Some of the Chumma Draw subjects are difficult given the many possibilities combined with the time constraints. This subject is one of them. The challenge is to come up with the simplest and most effective solution.
I arrived at this after stuffing up numerous other options and inwardly swearing at Rajni Sir for choosing this. (I would have liked him to choose the subject 'Fish' everyday). Finding this solution got my brain working furiously though. Good exercise :-)
Two elements that symbolize Marrakesh in nearly all the pictures I've seen are the beautiful arched windows and the colour blue. I've combined both of them here in this minimal drawing.
This of course, is a far better drawing than the previous one.
I'd always wanted to draw Capricorn. The drawing turned out well, but I screwed up the finish due to impatience and a busy day. Therefore I've applied a filter to act as a kind of veil.
"Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this Divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal.
Do this either by work, or worship, or mental discipline, or philosophy—by one, or more, or all of these—and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines, or dogmas, or rituals, or books, or temples, or forms, are but secondary details."
We celebrate 150th birth anniversary of the great Indian monk and philosopher.
